If you are looking for FUN, like-minded friends, lots of good lessons and have a competitive spirit you are in the right place. Cowdray Hunt Pony Club has been in existence since 1936 and we currently have just over 200 members ranging from 3 to 21. We are part of Area 13.
We cover a large area from Petersfield to Pulborough, from Haslemere to Bognor Regis. Our Pony Club field, where we hold most of our summer rallies, is at Halfway Bridge, just off the A272 between Petworth and Midhurst (Directions to field). During the winter months we use Boxgrove and Brinsbury. We have teams in Dressage, Horse Trials, Show Jumping, Polo, Tetrathlon, Mounted Games, and a special section for 3 – 8 year olds called ‘Mushrooms’. We have 3 camps, Senior camp for 11 years and over, Junior Camp for 8 – 10 year olds and Mushroom camp for the under 8’s.
If you want to know more, or if you have any questions do contact the District Commissioner Lucy Sanders, the Branch Secretary, Zoe Jones, or the Membership Secretary, Pippa Thorman, who will be happy to talk to you but please do not ring after 8pm or on Sunday! Better still, email them if you can. All contact details are on the ‘Contacts’ page.

SURREY UNION PONY CLUB - SHOW JUMPING SHOW SUNDAY 11TH MARCH Cowdray had a fantastic day's team Show Jumping at Sands Farm on Sunday - our Mini Mini team members, Lucianna Carballo and Daisy Fletcher did very well to start off in individuals - Daisy coming 7th and Lucianna hot on her heels 11th. Our two Cowdray Star team members then hooked up with two members from South Down East Pony Club to make a team - both our girls putting in a fantastic effort with two double clears, our South Down East partners in crime also did well (one have a few faults in the first round) but then another clear in the final to put our team 2nd over all. Bearing in mind that both Daisy and Lucianna were on new ponies, they did brilliantly and we were very proud of them.
We then started the individual Minis competition, all our members had good rounds,
Holly Fletcher came 3rd and Daisy Fletcher 11th. On to the team event - Bea Mountain,
Matilda Shelton-Agar, Tori Voller and Anna Jackson put forward a strong team for
the Cowdray Comets - they finished the first round on just 4 points which meant that
one member had to jump off for second place, it was a very nerve racking time, Matilda
on her lovely new pony, Patience flew round and we watched with bated breath as to
how our competitor would go....she also had a very fast round, but Matilda beat her
by less than a second! So huge congratulations all round for the Cowdray Comets,
who finished second overall and the Cowdray Stars who also finished second.
A very
special mention must be made of Tori Voller, who's eyecatching. sympathetic riding
of a talented but young horse caught the judges eye - she was given the coveted best
horsemanship prize over the whole show, well done Tori.

WELL DONE to all our Cowdray members who competed at the Wokingham Pony Club Hunter Trial at Tweseldown on Sunday 18th March. Zoe Jackson achieved a magnificent 1st place with Ellie Thorman hot on her heels in 2nd and Issy Jackson a brilliant 7th in a jolly competitive Novice class. Tori took her lovely new pony, Holiday Fancy Lady (FE for short), for her first ever outing cross country and did really well, and Beverly, our only competitor in the Intermediate class had a lovely clear round.
I am delighted to report that Izzy Lush and Oska have qualified for the Dengie Novice National Dressage Championships by coming a fantastic 2nd at the Area Finals last weekend - 25.3.12 at The Priory. Novice Warm Up Test - Beverley Voller 2nd & Kelly Jones 6th. Very well done girls!
CONGRATULATIONS to Kelly Jones for recently qualifying for the Dengie Show Jumping, a fantastic achievement to qualify for both Dressage and Jumping - well done Kelly!
Chiddingfold Farmers PC Dressage Show at Eashings Farm - 9th April 2012
We had three teams of Cowdray members taking part on a windy and rainy Easter Monday with everyone out on grass for the first time in the season. This is always a very strong 'Area' level competition and we had some good results in our mixed Novice Teams which were made up of two members of 13 years and under and older members not yet having competed at Intermediate level - all doing different tests to suit their age and experience.
The Cowdray Crackers were Sophia Elliott, Tori Voller, Ellie Thorman & Issy Lush and the Cowdray Chicks were Tia Tadkiewicz, Holly Fletcher, Jammy Taylor & Christi Radkiewicz.
Issy was 6th, Christ 5th, and Jammy did incredibly well on her new ride (Mum's horse Inky) to come 6th and 4th on fantastic scores of 67.2% and 79.29% !!!
Well done to the Chicks Team who were 5th overall. Our Open Team made up of Flora Elliott, Maddy Sanders, Venetia Manuel & Beverley Voller gained good experience for the eventing season to come riding the difficult Open Dressage Test with Flora 8th, Venetia 6th and Beverley 5th.
Well done girls - you all did really well.
