If you are looking for FUN, like-minded friends, lots of good lessons and have a  competitive spirit you are in the right place.

Cowdray Hunt Pony Club has been in existence since 1936 and we currently have just under 200 members ranging from 3 to 21. We are part of Area 13.

We cover a large area from Petersfield to Pulborough, from Haslemere to Bognor Regis. Our Pony Club field, where we hold most of our summer rallies, is at Halfway Bridge, just off the A272 between Petworth and Midhurst (Directions to field). During the winter months we use Boxgrove and Brinsbury.

We have teams in Dressage, Horse Trials, Show Jumping, Polo, and Tetrathlon, and a special section for 3 – 8 year olds called ‘Mushrooms’. We have 3 camps, Senior camp for 11 years and over, Junior Camp for 8 – 10 year olds and Mushroom camp for the under 8’s.

If you want to know more, or if you have any questions do contact the District Commissioner Maggie Mockett, the Branch Secretary, Zoe Jones, or the Membership Secretary, Pippa Thorman, who will be happy to talk to you but please do not ring after 8pm or on Sunday! Better still, email them if you can. All contact details are on the ‘Contacts’ page.

Congratulations to Cowdray Members Annie (1st Open) and Sophie Forsyth (3rd Intermediate) who competed as individuals at the Garth Hunt Horse Trials at Smiths Lawn on the 27th June - see below for further report.

WELL DONE to our minis - the team came a brilliant 2nd at the Petersfield ODE at Coombelands on the 20th June, with Beverly Voller coming a fantastic 2nd in her class after a stunning dressage and almost double clear (just a teensy weensy time fault)!  Jemima Taylor was thrilled with her round and she came a brilliant 4th again with even teensier time faults cross country, and Issy Jackson did really well especially after her scary time the previous week, coming a creditable 6th.  See News & Results for full report and photos.

SUCCESS at Bisley ODE on Sunday 9th May.  All our teams did really well at what is generally regarded as quite a testing event early in the season. Christi Radkiewicz stepped in at the last minute and came first in her arena, with a brilliant dressage and double clear (Class 2), Lucy Griffiths and Kitty Godman-Dorington both got very good dressage scores and double clears and came 3rd and 4th respectively (Class 1). Ellie Thorman (Class 2), first time out on Foxy, Imogen Krens (Class 2) and Kitty Addison (Class 1) all came a creditable 6th in their groups.  Issy Lush and Katie Phillips both achieved 3rd place in their arenas - a very testing cross country course - so well done girls!

CONGRATULATIONS  to Chloe Fairston who came a fantastic 2nd place in her arena at the Chiddingfold Farmers ODE at Coombelands on the 8th May.  It was Chloe’s first ODE on Minty so a brilliant result for her.  The team of Tabby Taylor, Sophie Forsyth and Katie Griffiths gained 3rd place in their class - great result!  Issy Jackson on Beano came 6th individually in her arena and the team comprising  Issy, Jemima Taylor, Chloe Fairston  and Beverly Voller were place 4th - well done girls!  Full report in ‘News and Results

WELL DONE to Rosemary Robinson, Fiona Clinch and Lewis Adams for passing their Lunging Test on Saturday (24th April).

CONGRATULATIONS to , Georgie Brash, Imogen Krens, Christi Radkiewicz, Wilfred Ross, Rachel Scanlan, Edwina Robinson and Ellie Thorman for passing their C Test.

They all got on really well and worked hard with Jane Stickley whose lessons are always fun and packed with all the information that they needed to do really well in the test. Lessons took place at Eastwood Stud and they are now equipped with all the basic knowledge which they will build on to carry them on through their Pony Club tests. Jane just has a way of making everything really easy to remember - informal but memorable!

Look out for dates for the start of the next course or contact Maggie for more information.

TWO teams attended the Team Show Jumping held by Goodwood Pony Club at Crofton Manor on Monday 12th April

CONGRATULATIONS to Adele Jones riding Jack who won the Open Dengie Qualifier at the weekend and also to Maddy Sanders riding Merlin who came 2nd in both the Novice & the Open classes, also qualifying for the Area Final. They join Flora Elliot who has already qualified and who was out competing this weekend at the British Eventing Jumping & Style Finals, having been 3rd in the qualifying event at Merrist Wood the weekend before. Well done girls and good luck at the Dengie Area Dressage Finals on 21st March.
