If you are looking for FUN, like-minded friends, lots of good lessons and have a  competitive spirit you are in the right place.

Cowdray Hunt Pony Club has been in existence since 1936 and we currently have just under 200 members ranging from 3 to 21. We are part of Area 13.

We cover a large area from Petersfield to Pulborough, from Haslemere to Bognor Regis. Our Pony Club field, where we hold most of our summer rallies, is at Halfway Bridge, just off the A272 between Petworth and Midhurst (Directions to field). During the winter months we use Boxgrove and Brinsbury.

We have teams in Dressage, Horse Trials, Show Jumping, Polo, and Tetrathlon, and a special section for 3 – 8 year olds called ‘Mushrooms’. We have 3 camps, Senior camp for 11 years and over, Junior Camp for 8 – 10 year olds and Mushroom camp for the under 8’s.

If you want to know more, or if you have any questions do contact the District Commissioner Maggie Mockett, the Branch Secretary, Zoe Jones, or the Membership Secretary, Pippa Thorman, who will be happy to talk to you but please do not ring after 8pm or on Sunday! Better still, email them if you can. All contact details are on the ‘Contacts’ page.

Garth Hunt PC Horse Trials @ Smiths Lawn, Windsor - 27th June 2010.

Many CONGRATULATIONS to both the Forsyth girls for doing well at the weekend in very hot weather.  Sophie was 3rd in the Intermediate class and Annie was 1st in the Open class! Both did good dressage tests and double clears so very well done!

BEST SHOOT AND 1ST PLACES FOR COWDRAY  A mini team of Edwina, Leah, Harvey competed at the Royal Artillery tetrathlon in the Wallops.

Harvey was competing at his first Tetrathlon , although he had competed at many triathlons in the past. Harvey rode his mums horse Flair, for the cross country stage. They jumped a well earnt clear round. Edwina arrived without a horse as poor Chips was lame so Flair came to the rescue and went around the cross country course for a second time. Leah also rode well with a clear on her pony Monty.

The team started well with Harvey gaining best shoot for the mini section overall. The weather had deteriated by the time they had to swim which made it very cold. All the team swam well but with only the run to complete the team were looking out of the placing's,

By the time the final scores came in we found Leah came 6th individually and Harvey came 5th individually with an award for his Best Shoot. A good day for Cowdray.

Ashley was the only Novice competing for Cowdray. He had a good shoot, swim and run and looked forward to riding Storm around the cross country course, which offered some challenging tight turns into some tricky fences.

Storm rose to the challenge and jumped well, helping Ashley win his first individual tetrathlon. He was put into a mixed team who also won the best team.

WELL DONE to our minis - the team came a brilliant 2nd at the Petersfield ODE at Coombelands on the 20th June, with Beverly Voller coming a fantastic 2nd in her class after a stunning dressage and almost double clear (just a teensy weensy time fault)!  Jemima Taylor was thrilled with her round and she came a brilliant 4th again with even teensier time faults cross country, and Issy Jackson did really well especially after her scary time the previous week, coming a creditable 6th.  See News & Results for full report and photos.

CONGRATULATIONS  to Chloe Fairston who came a fantastic 2nd place in her arena at the Chiddingfold Farmers ODE at Coombelands on the 8th May.  It was Chloe’s first ODE on Minty so a brilliant result for her.  The team of Tabby Taylor, Sophie Forsyth and Katie Griffiths gained 3rd place in their class - great result!  Issy Jackson on Beano came 6th individually in her arena and the team comprising  Issy, Jemima Taylor, Chloe Fairston  and Beverly Voller were place 4th - well done girls!  Full report in ‘News and Results

Saturday 7th August saw our intermediate team of Ashley riding Calm before the Storm, Venetia riding Blackberry Boo, Sophie riding Reko Prince Caspian and Georgie riding Silent Gun, compete at the area show jumping at Berkshire College. Due to ground conditions they jumped inside which suited our team very well and they showed how they have improved over the season to finish 2nd and qualify for the nationals in Derbyshire.

We took a novice team of Katie phillips riding Barney, Kelly Jones riding Jack, Zoe Jackson riding Dapper and Ella Wakland riding Ellie. They jumped very well and although they did not get in the final line up, Ella jumped her first clear with Ellie and Kelly jumped two confident clear rounds, and went through to the jump off for the individual placings.

Fantastic results for Piers Fox-Andrews and his polo teams - a great deal of practice and hard work paid off with the final prize tally as follows :-

Gannon Main Prize, John Kent took Best Playing Pony, Matt Perry took the Retraining of Racehorse Prize.  Our Gannon 2 goal Cowdray Park team came 2nd and  Cowdray Hunt team won the Jaguar Rose Bowl subsidiary final.  The Langford Plate was won by our Cowdray team who had to play against Cowdray Park in the subsidiary final.  George Pearson won The Andrew Older Memorial Trophy for most promising Langford Player.of the year.

Congratulations to Piers for winning the Tony Gilks Branch Manager Award for the most organised team manager!

William Batchelor, George Pearson, Tommy Beresford and Jack Taylor were all selected by the Hurlingham Polo Association (HPA) for the U21 Cup.

Well done everybody!
