3rd June 2010 - Mini Team Report
On the 3rd of June the Cowdray minis had 3 teams to compete in the Cowdray SJ team Show.
This was a fantastic turn out for the minis, so well done all who have improved over the year to achieve this level.
The teams where;
SUPER STARS : Georgie Jackson & Stanley, Lucy Griffiths & Parsley, Florence Elliot & Juanita and Jemima Taylor & Ellie Thorman’s Foxy
GOLDEN GIRLS : Christi Radson & Shannon, Tilly Harrison & Binki, Jemima Taylor & Mascarita, Issy Jackson & Beano
COWDRAY DIAMONDSPolly Hodd & Blue Bell, Luciana Carballo & Mr Darcy, Tori Voller & Treasure and Charlie Jeffery & George
I must firstly mention that poor Ellie Thorman hurt her hand prior to the show and was unable to compete. She very kindly offered to find a replacement jockey…. Who was Jemima Taylor. So thank you Ellie and we hope your hand returns to normal soon. x
In the individual class Christi managed to go very fast in the one round against the clock to be placed 8th, so well done Christi and Shannon. A great result as there were about 70 competitors!
The team event was next and proved quite a tricky course which required skilled and positive riding. The Golden Girls rode fantastically achieving only 4 faults between them which only two other team’s managed, equal first after the first round!
The Super Stars again rode with great gusto to come out with 8 faults, which placed them equal 2nd!
Cowdray Diamonds gave it all they had with sheer determination but unfortunately were eliminated….. Wait till next year, and then we will show them how it’s done!
So 2 teams in the jump off… it was so hard to pick who would jump off for the teams, so we went on who went clear in the last round and combined with the speed in the individual class. It brings quite a responsibility to do a jump-off for your team and Tilly Harrison and Florence Elliot rose to the challenge admirably.
First to go was Tilly and I think it all became too much as Tilly forgot to wait for the bell before she started to jump!! OH Tilly we all felt for you! As Jemima’s mum Vanessa said, an American rider did the same at the last Olympics and wasn’t able to receive her Gold medal! So better here at Pony Club rather than at the Olympics to learn at great lesson. The team was still placed a very credible 3rd.
Florence rode Juanita brilliantly but took a couple of poles out in their enthusiasm! But again a fantastic result for the team to be placed 5th.
I AM SO PROUD OF ALL THE MINIS WHO TOOK PART. They all showed great sportsmanship and all managed to ride wonderfully under pressure and learn such a lot from competing with so many other PC riders, so CONGRATULATIONS to all of you!!
Thank you to Vicky Lush and Zoe Jones for organising a wonderful day for us all.
