Cowdray Hunt Branch of the Pony Club

Cowdray Hunt PC had two teams attending the Mini Championships this year.

Our Showjump team;

COWDRAY HUNT STARS

Ollie Shone and Ralph

Luciana Carbello and Holly

Tilly Harrison and Binki

Issy Jackson and Beano unfortunately had to decline due to attending a new school…. Good luck Issy at your new school.

So Tori Voller was due to take Issy’s place with Treasure but on the morning of the event Treasure was lame!!! Tori was majorly disappointed as you can imagine.

It was all a bit of a rush first thing as our team were first to go, with Ollie and Ralph having to be the first in!!! Ralph seemed to have heavy feet is his round and rolled a few poles much to Ollie’s disappointment. Luciana and Holly were next to go and jumped a lovely round with only one pole down, closely followed by Tilly and Binki who were totally on form and jumped a clear.

Being the first to go is always totally nerve wracking so a big well done to the team. Now there was a long break before the second round so a short hack back to the lorry and a chance for everyone to grab a coffee and bacon butty from the catering van!

The second round course had slightly changed and had gone up in height which seemed to suit our team as Ollie jumped a clear along with Luciana and Tilly just had one pole down. Smiles all round and a big sigh of relief from mums to be going home with happy children!

Well done Cowdray Hunt Stars, you did us all proud and now on to the winter indoor competitions so let’s have many more children coming forward for the Mini teams!

Our Event team;

COWDRAY HUNT DIAMONDS

Chloe Fairston and Minty

Jemima Taylor and Mascarita

Beverly Voller and Poppy

Christi Radkiewicz and Shannon

Goodwood was a fantastic location to have the Mini Championships. The dressage was held just to the left in front of the Goodwood house, how many can say that they have competed in front of Goodwood house!

Our team all rode beautifully and gained good marks and were looking forward to seeing how the show jumping was riding. It was a substantial course set on a hill with plenty of scary fillers and some awkward turns….

The team warmed up well and Jammy announced to the team, ‘ride your pony like you stole it’!! A FANTASTIC bit of advice and it seemed to work, Chloe had just the one stop the same as Beverly who had a stop at the last fence, Christi rode a spooky Shannon with determination and had just one stop and one pole down and Jammy had one of the few clears of the day, great results!

With that tense moment over with, the team changed into their XC colours and were swiftly on to the XC warm up which was on top of Goodwood with the most stunning views.

Chloe and Minty were the first of our team to go. Minty was being quite challenging, Chloe had to ride with quick thinking and skill, to finish with a couple of stops. Jammy was coming up behind storming, a brilliant clear round, closely followed by Beverly and Poppy literally flying. Shannon was funny and stopped for the loo between fences 1 & 2 and then was on her way to a speedy finish!

It was lovely to hear all of the team chatting away about their rounds.. ‘did you see me over that one’….’ Wow we went so fast’.

Being in teams can have added pressure but it can have advantages too, sharing your ‘up’s and downs’.

The team were placed a credible 4th and individually in their sections;

Beverly Voller 1st!!!

Jemima Taylor 3rd!!!

Christi Radkiewicz 7th!!!

A fantastic day, Congratulation Girls.

On behalf of the Cowdray Hunt teams, thank you to Lucy Sanders for coming to support us all and also the Goodwood PC for organising the Championships.
